when i take my son to see his father i am worried he will not give him back to me

You need to decide whether there is a real chance based on what the children's father has said or done in the past that he won't return your son. If so a lawyer can consider with you what steps can be taken to provide you with the security you are entitled to - whether written undertakings from the father or even going to court for an appropriate order.
