Immigration question:
My Thai wife’s 2-year probationary visa expires next month, she does not have an English cert due to 6 months hospitalisation with TB meningitis. She has re-started the ESOL course but cognitive impairment making learning difficult. Are they likely to grant FLR or ILR for compassionate reasons? We also have a 2 year old (British) daughter

If there is a Long term physical or medical condition, the Secretary of State may grant an exemption for the English test. However, there must be evidence that the condition would prevent the person from permanently learning English.
In your wife's case, if her illness responds to treatment then she may not be exempted.
She will need to provide a proper medical evidence from her doctor.
