As of 1 October 2009, adults aged 22 or over must be paid £5.80 per hour, and workers aged 18-21 should be paid £4.83. Workers under 18 who are no longer of compulsory school age are entitled to £3.57 per hour.
It is expected that he Government will extend the adult minimum wage rate to 21-year-olds from October 2010.
