You are not barred by law from having a bank account if you are bankrupt but it is up to the bank whether it will give you one. You must tell your bank about the bankruptcy as they may want to impose certain condition on the account such not permitting an overdraft facility or a cheque guarantee card.
In reality it could take some time to sort out a bank account so be prepared to shop around for a bank that is sympathetic to bankrupts.
