Buying a flat or house question:

I am buying a house which needs a proper refurb and the seller has accepted my offer based on two conditions one in which I use the same estate agents company to use there inhouse solicitor (but a different solictor within the company) and to get my mortgage through the same estate agents as well. Please can you tell me if they are allowed to do this and what the advantages and disadvantages of this are?

Generally speaking, the same firm cannot act for both buyer and seller due to a conflict of interest. So no, you need an independant firm to act for you.

I would recommend you appoint the lawyer and mortgage advisor of your choosing and not allow yourself to be rail-roaded by this seller.
